Most days I just let the fruit rot on the vine, or sit inside while my father waters and picks what he wants. But today I picked about twenty pounds of tomatoes, peppers, and one squash from Molly's plant.

The Road is an amateurly crafted movie that doesn't really capture anything about the book that I felt strongly about. As is typical, the child actor playing the Boy was annoying and mostly boring. It was otherwise well performed, but that doesn't make up for the voiceover which fell completely flat out of its original context in the book. The very few changes that were made from the story were to no greater effect. An extraordinary book, a lifeless movie.

Brains, while delicious, are comically high in cholesterol.

The Nolan brothers played Modern Warfare 2 for five straight days, then passed out. Eighteen hours later, they woke up and said simultaneously: "I just had the weirdest dream." and "I just had an idea for a movie."

The first tomato to ripen was a blondkopfchen, which I thought was a spitze in transition. It fell off into my hand, and was delicious, though the skin was a little prominent.



The other tomatoes I can identify are the green zebras, which are gorgeous. Unless they suddenly turn purple, and then they will be one of the two black russian tomatoes that I can't distinguish. More stuff after the thing.

One of Lexie's favorite dishes is the smoked salmon salad at Landmark in Galesburg. Since we were given a smoker this week, I picked up a side of salmon, cured it, smoked it, and shredded it just for her.

We forgot all about dressing, which is typically a raspberry or cranberry, walnut or hazelnut, type vinaigrette thing. We blended bing cherries, blueberries, honey, salt, sugar, vinegar, and oil together and it turned out well. Also, petit fours from Sweet Spot, and watermelon.

The pepper plants have finally started fruiting. I can't wait to figure out which plants make what kind of pepper. Also, the two annex tomato plants closest to the air conditioner drain pipe are producing. They only get half the sunlight everything else in the garden gets, but they get a steady supply of water, drop by drop. The pepper plants which are too far away to benefit are all stunted.
