I am taking a break from filming one of the band's music videos here at camp. Most of the time during camp I just help write and direct the videos, but this year I am filming one of them and its great.
I've always wanted to go to comic con, and last year I had a chance to go with the Suicide Girls but I had to go to camp instead. At any rate something hilarious/horrible there happened yesterday right before Seth Rogen went on to speak about a new movie or something: someone got theys ass stabbed.
You read it here second, folks:
The attacker was later seen being led away in handcuffs. He had on a blue "Harry Potter" t-shirt.
Since 2005 the only pair of shoes I have bought were non slip shoes for work. A couple of days ago I decided to break down and spend some money on them and I got these:
They are really comfortable, and I like the color. Plus all the other shit about buying Toms shoes; they give a pair of shoes to a poor kid every time you buy one.
I can't believe I paid almost 60 dollars for them, but I guess it is worth it.
At any rate I am leaving for camp this evening, and I won't be posting as much, not that I do that much.
Today's my wife's birffday and to celebrate we're having a couple of friends over for a dinner I get to make.
I am going to make a few rolls of sushi, and keep it simple. The pièce de résistance is going to be dessert. This month's issue of Bon Appetit had a recipe for traditional (on a biscuit, not cake) strawberry short cake with a balsamic vinegar and pepper glaze. We tried it out at work and it was great so I brought what we did at work home and changed a bit of it.
Later tonight I will take pictures of the completed dessert and upload them, along with a writeup of what i changed.
But I've already made the biscuits from scratch, southern style with a twist.
Nicholas Gann says: That smug look on his face makes me want to chuck beer bottles at his face. They sound horrible.
Every girl's crazy about a mullet man!
cecil says: it is really scary, actually. i read the article about it, and then thought of this joke post so i google image searched for the picture from the article. before i found this one, i ran across a couple of pictures of sinkholes in the same area, but unrelated to the storms they had.
fucking nuts.
Now that Lost is over California sweet corn is coming into season, so last night the wife and I made some spicy corn chowder from a recipe I made up, with some fancy grilled cheese. These pictures suck, because we have very dim lights in our dining room. Recipes after the jump.
Today in San Francisco I watched some gangsters in a Camero do burnout doughnuts in the middle of one of the city's busiest streets, during the busiest traffic the city gets, any day of the year (because of a non burnout related city holiday).
i made spanish rice for the first time, with my own recipe, the other night. it was delicious. you'll notice in the picture, there is beans in the rice. that's because there is no reason to eat one without the other. recipe on the fly by.
cecil says: yeah we buy a lot of shit in bulk. its nice to be able to buy things like organic non bleached sugar in bulk, because its only 79 cents a pound right now. i also always get rice, dried mango, granola, and shit like that in bulk. its amazing.
